It all started w/a real bad UTI

by: Becky on Wed, Nov 14 2007

I went almost a year w/o a diganosis. I was treated like an idiot by the medical profession and in all of it, they took out my gallbaldder (it was fine). It all started w/a real bad UTI that produced huge clots and lots of bacteria. In the middle of the UTI I developed upper abdominal pain that radiates straight through to the back (does not wrap around). I finally went outside this community b/c I knew I wasn’t crazy and it really made me determined. I found a urologist 90 miles away. Hence the IC diganosis. I have been through the dilations, DSMO, Elmiron, Pamelor…the whole nine yards. I do not take these medications presently but I still take pain medication everyday. It is the upper pain that bothers me the most, not so much the bladder itself. I had another cysto yesterday and my bladder has not responded. My doctor thinks that the bladder nerves were disturbed and are inflammed which is the root of all my pain. So as long as the bladder stays irriated, so do the nerves. Has anyone else heard of or experienced this??
