I just discovered another place on my leg that I asume to be MRSA. I am a 29 year old mother of one with a 2 year old child that has severe excema. Mt experience started back in May (2008). My boyfreind and i are the working poor and had a lapse in our sons medical coverage. Long story short, his father had taken him to the ER for a pimple like bump on the top of his hand. They sent him home with a diagnosis of excema. My son had been dealing with that condition scince the age of 6 weeks old. He was sent home with some anti-fungal cream. Two days later that bump had turned in to an abcess the size of a golf ball. At that point I took him to a differnet ER that drained the abcess and gave him a script for antibotics. They assured me at that time that a culter would be ran to see what and where the infection had came from. I never heard a word. i called back several times to check to see if any test results had come back. The next day I had pimple like bumps showing up on my legs. I wnet back to the same ER and was not seen because the minor care doctors did not come in till a later time. At this point i went back to the same hospital that my son was seen first. I had eight blisters on my legs and had explained my situation. They proceeded to pop the infected area and give me a script for oral antibotics for ten days. Neither one of the hospitals took a true culture to find out what was really going on. I myself can not get a straight awnser out of any health care provider for me or my son about what is going on. I feel helpless at this time. I understand how to prevent MRSA and all the facts about the superbug, but how do I keep getting re-infected? Why hasn’t my boyfriend who lives with us, never got it? We have Bactroban Cream that we use,my son does not own a toy that can’t be bleached. I need some answers. Can someone relate……how many morw sleepless nights can I have? I feel like a prisoner in my own home. When I have a bump I get so depressed and alienate myself untill ot goes away. i can’t live like this. Comments
